Cambell's condensed soups

Once a staple of frugal of cooking... has nearly doubled in price over the last year or so. I used to be able to get these cans of soup, great for a light meal or as a "sauce" to make all sorts of bakes and casseroles, for less then a dollar per can. Tonight, I bought six cans of green pea soup for grandma at a cost of 3 for $5, or $1.66 a can!

The Rise of the New Global Elite

F. Scott Fitzgerald was right when he declared the rich different from you and me. But today’s super-rich are also different from yesterday’s: more hardworking and meritocratic, but less connected to the nations that granted them opportunity—and the countrymen they are leaving ever further behind.

This is a fairly long article, but an excellent account of contemporary history and the dynamics of the birth of a truly New World Order. This is not "woo woo" conspiracy stuff though, but in fact an accurate account that is not quite as much "fun" as conspiracy theory, but an important read nonetheless.
